Today unfolds
like a flower
with a short
24 hour life span

I eagerly anticipate
the beauty found
within this flower
that will only bloom once

Its fragrance
offers promise
of sweet experiences
the day will bring

As evening falls
and the flower
begins to wilt,
and the petals fall away

A quiet hope grows root
that another flower
will bloom in its place
in the coming dawn
